The Bay Area Night Photo group met recently at Sutro Baths in San Francisco. Once upon a time the place was magnificent, now it’s just a pile of decaying concrete.
Which makes it perfect for setting fire to!
One day I’ll show you how we make these fireworks. In the meanwhile I’m sure a smart person like you can type “wire wool spin” in to the youtubes. The real reason we went was to try and capture a strange glowing rock that sits just off the coast. The rock is eerily white and quite apart from the other formations.
I’m sure from all this talk of poop and crap you’ve worked out why. Here’s another shot I took while I was there, ending in a lesson on how HDR can ruin a nice image.
I love HDR photography, in the right setting it can be truly marvelous. The scene below should have been such a scene. There was tonnes of dynamic range, lots of coloured light being thrown around. Everything a young HDR enthusiast wants. I’ve said in the past this blog would show the pictures that failed, well this is such a time. Don’t make your pictures look like this. It’s just embarrassing
Come on, talk to us!
