I posted the below picture last week. I was very unhappy with it at the time but I couldn’t work out how to make it better. Thanks to May‘s version of the image, I now know what I was doing wrong.

The above picture is from the same neg, but processed completely differently. Firstly, the crop is obviously much tighter. Next, there’s no post-processing in Photoshop other than a little sharpening. The image below is buggered with in a dozen ways; the image above is just a camera raw conversion. Which I think means, that I had been paying closer attention to my camera settings, I could have got this shot right straight from the camera.
