As you’ll find out if you stick around, I’m terrible at flash photography. That said, I’m trying hard and learning a lot.
The above photo has a large strobe in front and to the left of the image to give Deanna the front light see needs, but the scene is mostly lit by the light toy I built. The photo is an 8 second exposure that I had to manipulate more than I wanted.
I fired the flash at the beginning of the shot to burn in the image of Deanna, then spent the rest of the dark period painting the circle.
Below you can see the straight from the camera shot so you can see how I edited it.
1) The flash painted me in to the picture behind the light toy, so that needed blacking out
2) The tripod that supported the toy needed removing, so that was a job for the cloning tool
3) Cropping to make it a tad tighter
4) Added a fake laser light just for the sheer hell of it
