Deanna clearly hates me.
She’s booked us to spend 4 days hiking the Grand Canyon. As far as I can tell it’ll be a lot of downhill, a little flat, and then the mother of all up-hills. So I need to practice.
The worst hike near the house is Mission Peak; it’s a 2,500ft rise in about 2.5 miles (the route we take). You should click the above picture for a more complete view, it has some rather nice foreground. The shot is 5 bracketed HDR of the scene, from near the top taken last night.
Yes, last night. Thanks to Steven from Star Circle Academy, we hiked the mountain in the dark – carrying 30lbs of camera gear. We then did it again this morning before breakfast.
The below shot is terrible I know. It’s an HDR of Silicon Valley with Steven and I running in and out of the shot to paint each other with our head torches – I forgot to pack a proper flash. The lesson here for everyone is that HDR and people painting don’t really mix. Oh, and you should always pack a flash.
Come on, talk to us!
